Speaking of foods of New Zealand, I’d like to introduce kiwiburger, horkey-pokey ice-cream and pavlova
Kiwiburger is not used kiwi fruits. It is put a slightly larger hamburg steak, a fried egg, mayonnaise, tomato sauce and a sliced beet. (Beet is a kind of turnip.)
New Zealand is famous for dairy produce. For example, milk, butter, cheese and ice-cream. Ice-cream is especially popular among the foreigners. Unlike the Japanese one, New Zealand’s ice-cvream is very mild and creamy. Sprinkling vanilla ice-cream with caramel crunchy is called horkey-pokey ice-cream.
Pavlova is cake made with meringue that was thought up when Anna Pavlova(a world-famous ballerina) came to New Zealand. But, Australia also keep saying Australia is the birthplace of pavlova.

When summer comes, you can see frequently having a barbecue in each New Zealand’s home. Traditional barbecue of New Zealand is called hangi. This is made that roast meat or vegetable on heated stone in dug hole.


Supermarket in Auckland sells fresh fishery products that cannot find in Europe. You can buy fishery products around New Zealand at the fish market called “seamart”. Oyster and salmon fit in well with the wine of New Zead.
