I'm going to introduce about contents of aroha fesrival.
The inaugural ceremony of the royal court is held before Aroha festival every year. King, queen, prince and princess of Hawaii are chosen among the people that have been native Hawaiian for many generations. Royal court take crowns and symbols of Hawaii.
Then, at the time of the opening ceremony, royal court is announced formally.
During the festival, party called “ho’olaule’a” is had in many places of island.
Children dance the hula. Everyone enjoy live music. There are many brunch stores of Hawaiian foods. They make themselves at home on the grass eating lunch just like picnic. That’s the Hawaiian style. You really should relax like Hawaiian.
Hula competition is held at the festival. Every participant for this competition dance the hula called “Hapa haole”. Hapa haole is modern hula. They dance in time to the music united western pop music and Hawaiian music.
This competition is not final selection but semifinal round. The final selection is held at the end of year.
